This Fender Custom Shop ’51 HS Telecaster offers an array of expert-selected specs, crafted by the master builders at FCS in Corona, CA.
With a unique pairing of pickups, this Custom Shop Tele was given some extra love in the tone department. Sporting a handwired Crushed Blackguard Tele Pickup in the bridge position that offers the authentic twang and bite that made the Telecaster legendary, complemented a by a Seymour Duncan SH-55n Seth Lover Neck Vintage Humbucker Pickup in its neck, this tele is as much of a player’s choice as it is a collector’s. The 4-conductor wiring offers versatility in pickup selections, as well.
The sturdy body of this Custom Shop Telecaster is constructed from 2-piece ash, relic’d to the second heaviest of the possible Fender Custom Shop treatments, making for a guitar that emulates one that’s been used heavily since its birth in 1951- with added relic’d hardware to further its worn appearance. The ’51 Nocaster body shape embodies a classic design that has become iconic in the world of electric guitars- topped with a Vintage Logo tele neck plate that adds a touch of authenticity to the instrument’s spec date. The headstock features a ’51 head scoop, also authentic to 1951.
The neck of the ’51 HS Telecaster is cut from rift-sawn maple, and its profile is a comfortable 10/56 V shape, offering a vintage feel. Finished in a nitrocellulose coating that’s designed to decay beautifully as it ages, this already vintage appearing instrument will be a guaranteed looker as it’s played more and more. The 9.50″ radius of the maple fingerboard boasts 21 medium jumbo frets, and the bone nut is 1.650″ wide.
The Aged Butterscotch Blonde finish, Nocaster Relic’d knobs, Micarta dots, and meticulous attention to detail in the aging process really put an emphasis on the vintage look and feel of this guitar, making it yet another feat of the Fender Custom Shop.
