The Stratocaster is celebrating its 70th birthday, and for the occasion, Fender’s 70th Anniversary Player Stratocaster is up for the task of representing this iconic guitar’s lineage. This instrument embodies the essence of one of the most prominent guitars that has shaped the way music has sounded for 70 years, and it does so in an affordable, player’s grade fashion.
In classic Strat style, the body of the 70th Anniversary Player Stratocaster is cut from a solid piece of alder and finished in gloss polyester, with a totally unique color that celebrates 70 years of playing perfectly: Comet Burst.
The 70th Anniversary Player Strat comes loaded with Pure Vintage ’59 Single-Coil Strat pickups in the bridge, middle, and neck positions. These pickups are as vintage-accurate as possible, with Alnico V magnets, fiber bobbins, and Formvar-coated Magnet Wire to enhance brightness, ensuring that achieving the twang and snap associated with classic Strat tones, is as easy as plugging in and playing. These pickups are easily controlled using a 1 x master volume, 2 x tone (push/push add neck) control configuration.
The 70th Anniversary Player Strat also features a modern “C” profile maple neck, the most common guitar neck shape available due to its notorious comfort. This C-shaped neck tends to be much shallower than U and V-shaped necks, with a less broad shoulder than the U and a less steep angle than the V. With this neck profile, accessing the 9.5″ radius rosewood fingerboard becomes a breeze, and the 25.5″ scale length offers an authentic feeling Fender playing experience. And what is a Strat with no tremolo system? As expected, this 70th Anniversary Player Strat also comes loaded with a 2-point tremolo system, as well as ClassicGear tuning machines.
The 70th Anniversary Player Stratocaster is built with the modern player in mind, all while adding a new chapter to the legacy of the Stratocaster’s story, and is as much a unique collector’s item as it is a workhorse of a guitar. This instrument comes with a deluxe gig bag.
