Say hello to this beautiful Fender Custom Shop ‘52 Telecaster, an ode to the roots of electric guitar craftsmanship. Modeled after an original ’52 Telecaster model, this guitar pays homage to the early days of Fender when the electric guitar began to make its mark on music, while boasting some more modern features that cater to the demands of contemporary players.
Built from premium, lightweight ash, the 2-piece body of this ‘52 Telecaster offers the same signature twang that the originals became known for while also sporting the same body material. The ash body offers a resonant, twangy grit that’s driven home when combined with 50-51 Blackguard Nocaster pickups, both in the bridge and neck positions- the neck pickup being nickel covered, adding another slight touch of authenticity, and honoring Leo Fender’s original ’52 Tele design.
Being host to the heaviest possible Fender Custom Shop relic treatment possible, this ’52 Tele is finished to tell the visual story of a guitar that’s seen heavy use since its birth, with dings, dents and wear, as well as intensely discolored hardware to match it’s body’s worn appearance. An extremely thin Flash Coat Lacquer is added to finish this guitar. This finish not only showcases the guitar’s beautiful relic’d body with little interruption, but it also contributes to an open and breathable resonation of this instrument while it’s being played, contributing to its tonality.
This Custom Shop ‘52 Style also sports a comfortable Soft “V” neck profile, accurate to the original design, and often preferred by players who like their thumb hanging over the edge of their fingerboard. As strings are more closely spaced at the nut and diverge slightly towards the bridge, this ’52 Telecaster’s upgraded 7.25″-9.5″ compound fingerboard radius is a slight departure from the original design. The fingerboard radius helps to further enhances fretting comfort while gradually following the spacing of strings, and highlights the Fender Custom Shop’s ability to delicately balance vintage specs and modern playability. The combination of a 50’s truss rod and bone nut at a 1.625″ width also help make certain of optimal sustain and tuning stability.
The FCS Heavy Relic finish adds character without compromising the structural integrity of this instrument, making each ‘52 Telecaster a unique relic’d masterpiece that plays as though it’s brand new, with the appearance of just the opposite. A custom Fender Tele tweed case is included to complement this custom instrument.
